Biography

As part of a team of Specialist Technicians, Tansy’s current role is working with both BA and MA, Fashion and Textiles students, providing opportunities to explore and develop their awareness of print and dye; using traditional hand (silk-screen) printing, heat transfer printing including digital sublimation, different techniques like mono-printing and block dyeing and dyeing both fabrics and yarns for Print, Knit and Weave. It is also her responsibility to create a working Timetable for all areas of the workshop, using the room booking program Celcat. She manages student numbers by organising group bookings, Health and Safety Inductions, Top Up Technical sessions, practical demonstrations, access to studio space and arranging Technician support.

She has been a Visiting Tutor for Fashion Print, Womenswear and Fashion Design with Marketing as well as Widening Participation Progression courses and have worked on the Artscom short courses as a Tutor and Technician. She graduated from Central Saint Martin’s BA (hons) Fashion Print and worked with Zandra Rhodes as her principal screen printer.
