Biography

I originally studied fine art at The Glasgow School of Art to post-graduate level. I have exhibited work nationally and internationally and have curated projects in galleries and public spaces in the UK and beyond.

My previous roles also include Visual Arts and Crafts Officer for Arts Council England, Commissions Manager for Public Art Commissions Agency and Modus Operandi Art Consultants where I was commissioning major public art projects nationally and internationally.

I joined University of the Arts London (UAL) in 2001 to develop, launch and manage Artquest, funded by Arts Council England and UAL. Artquest is now the leading agency in the UK for supporting artists’ professional development.

From 2011 to 2015, I was Director of a newly established UAL service for creative students and graduates, Student Enterprise & Employability. The service supported creative practice and business development at the University. In 2015 this graduate career service was voted the UK’s best university careers service for its innovative and comprehensive support to creative students and graduates.

I have previously been a Specialist Advisor (Visual Arts) to the Scottish Arts Council, am a Harkness Fellow and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and have been on the board of several artist studio organisations and resource spaces, including SPACE studios and London Print Studio.
