Biography

I work at the intersection of research, creativity and education, with a specialism in design writing and interdisciplinary facilitation. Dividing my time between UAL and consultancy, my work connects design, architecture, arts and culture through critical and contextual studies, editorial practice and strategic facilitation. Previously, I held key roles at the Royal College of Art, London College of Communication and Goldsmiths University of London, with external roles internationally.

I teach on Contextual Studies for BA Product and Industrial Design and MA Innovation Management. Coordinating roles include the Transdisciplinary Futures platform.

Consultancy work centres on interdisciplinary research and impact in the public realm. I chair bid-writing workshops, with major UK/European wins. Groups include; Ceramics Research Centre, Westminster Menswear Archive, Institute for Technology in the Public Interest; and Critical Media Lab/Basel Academy of Art and Design. I conduct impact research, building on experience of REF 2021 at Westminster and Goldsmiths Universities.

My own research, writing and speaking explores emergent design currents and futures. The co-authored book ‘100 Women: Architects in Practice’ (RIBA, 2024) and ROCA Galley exhibition received international acclaim across six continents, leading to events and interviews on urban futures. Also: Interior Futures (2019); Typography Today and Tomorrow (2015); the Future of Publishing (2012). In collaboration with Colin Davies,  ‘Limited Language: Re-writing Design – Responding to a Feedback Culture’ (Birkhäuser, 2012), re-imagined a hybrid future for the writing.

I am a Trustee of the Arts Foundation.
