Biography

I am a designer, maker, researcher and educator. My methods of research and practice stem from the belief that relatedness is central to our being and engagement; therefore, exploring interconnectedness is central to my work and collaborations. The directionality of my work stems from an attitude driven by activism and the mentality to stimulate and navigate towards holistic, life-giving design practices. My passion for ecology has been evident throughout my life, and practice permaculture to relate, work with and understand the thriving of the land and natural cycles we are part of.

With a BA in Product Design, and MA from the Royal College of Art, I am currently developing my PhD at the Manchester School of Art. My research is based on how design can expand relatedness through regenerative principles. This research is framed from ecocentrism and explores a learning-with, living-with, designing-with perspective.

I am an avid lecturer, tutor and workshop facilitator and developed collaborations in the EU, the UK, the US, China and Canada. For 10 years, I was course leader at Product Design ArtEZ University of the Arts (NL), focusing on equipping a new generation and attitude towards design and developing social, material, and ecological responses. Here, new practices developed, online Salons, DIR Residency, Fieldworks program and innovative partnerships and approaches.

I have practised internationally for over 15 years and have built up an extensive network of design practices, organisations and industry. For several years my work was situated in China, focusing on design making and collaborations. Besides this, I have consulted and collaborated with diverse partners such as Slow Research Lab, Design Inquiry, ButterflyWorks, CAMPER Lab, BioDesign Challenge, Bio-leadership Fellowship, DRS Festival of Emergence, others and universities. Together with partners, I cofounded UFƟ Unidentified Facility, a Research Collaboratory to connect a worldwide network of designers investigating and publishing on future ecologies and radical intervention.

My work has been published and exhibited worldwide, including exhibitions at The Future Perfect New York, Holon Design Museum and Design Shanghai, DesignMiami/Basel, London Design Festival, Pratt Institute, Gallery Karena Schuessler and many others.
