Biography

I am an architect, lecturer, and researcher. I graduated from ETSAM-UPM, Madrid and spent an exchange year at KTH, Stockholm. Currently, I am developing my PhD at TU Delft in the ’Architecture and Democracy’ programme, a collaboration with the Jaap Bakema Study Centre at Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam.

During the last ten years, I have developed a professional practice between architecture and urbanism, working independently, collaboratively and in the partnerships Cornago&Sanchez and Urban Toolkit. I have put forward projects ranging in scope and scale: from housing buildings and time-based urban master plans to art interventions, exhibitions, and collaborative design. My work has been awarded in international competitions such as Europan (first prize in E16 and E13 and second prize in E10), 72 Hour Urban Action (Roskilde, Denmark), the competition for the urban regeneration of Badel site (Zagreb, Croatia) or Arquia Proxima (2014,2016,2018, 2020, and 2022).

To support my research, I was awarded the La Caixa Fellowship in 2019 and the RIBA Research Fund in 2021. Previously, I was a Teaching Fellow at CEPT University, Ahmedabad (India) and a Lecturer in Architecture and Landscape Urbanism at Kingston University, London. I co-directed the Archiprix International Workshops in 2015 and 2017 and have led workshops at Science Gallery, Dublin, Medialab Prado, Madrid and El Ranchito, Matadero, Madrid.

My latest publications include the ‘Ahmedabad Cross Section’ (CEPT University Press, 2020), co-edited with Jigna Desai and the chapter ‘Open Building and User Agency’ co-authored with Dirk van den Heuvel and included in ‘Housing and the city’ (Routledge, 2022).
