Biography

Every object I create is driven by a love of subtle and sensual forms and a passion for design through making. I enjoy the tactility, possibility and challenges of clay and this comes across in my work and teaching.

I am interested in our relationships and interactions with objects and how we might consider this in the design of ceramic products.

I run a successful ceramic design practice from my studio in London and mainly produce hand-thrown tableware for high-end shops, galleries and restaurants. I also design and model work to be produced in small factories in Stoke on Trent. Whether made by me or other skilled crafts people in England, the design ethos is the same, attention to detail, tactility and craftsmanship.

I love a design brief and a ‘ceramic challenge’ and have collaborated with high-end shops and Michelin star restaurants around the world. Clients include The Conran Shop, Hakkasan, Yauatcha and the new Ling Ling restaurants, Sketch, The Store x Soho House Berlin, Bensimon Home, The Design Museum shop, Maud and Mabel and The Harley Gallery.

I have lectured about this internationally and have written on the subject of emotionally durable ceramics for the International Journal of Design.
