Biography

Becky joined CSM in 2012, overseeing five technical areas in Fashion and Textiles. With a background in fashion design and costume Making, she has worked in higher education for over 12 years. Having worked as both a technician and then a course leader, Becky has a wealth of experience that she can draw on when working with staff and students at Central Saint Martins. Her teaching experience is in garment construction and pattern cutting, which she has taught to degree level, as well as short leisure courses for adults and children.

Becky started her own studies in fashion at art college, choosing to study costume design at degree level. Following graduation, whilst working in industry, Becky worked for Angels Costumiers and the BBC Costume and Wig Store as a Costume Maker. This experience has been hugely beneficial when working with students on their own garments.

Becky continues her own practice in home-based craft, which she explored further whilst studying for her Masters in Education in Art and Design at the Institute of Education. Research interests include hand knitting, embroidery and matriarchal influences and gender bias in craft practice.
