Anuradha Rajagopal, our Post-Grad Community Ambassador who studies at London College of Communication came up with the plan to run a relaxed social event for postgrads at LCC but for students for all 6 colleges to enjoy. We said why not! We chucked some money behind the bar to pay for the first 30 drinks and she put her plan into action. Here Anuradha reports back on the event.
On the 5th of February, supported by UAL Post-Grad Community, we held a social and networking event in the LCC darkroom bar to bring together students across all six colleges and create a relaxed and informal atmosphere for students to find potential collaboration partners from different disciplines.
There was lots of interest as soon as it was advertised we students emailing to say they were coming. On the night, students were invited to give short introductions about themselves and their practice or current projects. This helped everyone feel more relaxed, got students talking and very naturally, new networks and friendships were starting to form.
It was great to see students from London College of Communication, London College of Fashion, Chelsea College of Arts and Central Saint Martins in attendance. Many students who participated in the event wanted to find others who they could collaborate with and the gathering provided them with platform to do just that! We were able to match make students to the disciplines they were interested in connecting with and provided space for some interesting conversations around sharing interests and skills.
I spoke to a few students from very interesting courses and exchanged some career ideas which I have learned through my course, which may interest them.

Sometimes it isn't very easy to meet others from across our six collages; therefore, an event such as this encouraged and helped bring people together. The result was a positive one, and everyone asked for another social! Watch this space!...
