The Guest Artists Space (G. A. S.) Foundation (Nigeria) was established in 2019 and is supported by the Yinka Shonibare Foundation (UK). G.A.S. Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to facilitating international cultural exchange, developing creative and research practices through residencies and collaborations.

Building on the success of Guest Projects London, G.A.S. Foundation’s ambition is to encourage critical and engaging practices in the fields of contemporary art, design, architecture, agriculture and ecology, giving practitioners and academics the space to research, experiment, share, educate and develop work.

Our Lagos location will focus on the arts, design, curatorial practice and research in one of the most enterprising cities in the world. The building, currently nearing completion, houses a multifunctional studio and gallery space on the ground floor with accommodation and shared living space on the 1st floor for up to three artists-in-residence.

Our second residency space, near Ijebu Ode, is on a working farm just two hours from Lagos that will focus on trans-disciplinary craft, design, art, as well as the environment, food sustainability and agriculture. The private Ecology Green (EG) Farm founded by Shonibare in 2018 will offer a three-bed residency space for artists, designers, makers, scientists, agriculturists, ecologists and researchers in quiet and peaceful surroundings. The thriving 54-acre farm includes an eco-house made out of rammed earth bricks created on-site.
