Fibres and Fabrics

This one-day course has been specially designed for assistant buyers and designers from UK retail stores, and includes a mixture of theory and practical exercises, delivered by a garment technology expert. 
It gives an overview of:

  • how the fibre content of fabrics helps to determine their characteristics, quality and cost
  • how fabrics are developed, their end uses and what to look for when sourcing
  • natural and man-made fibres, their origins, properties and production

By touching and examining fabric samples delegates quickly learn how to identify commonly used fabrics and start to build up an understanding of fabrics, the raw materials of fashion.

Due to the smaller group size, delegates have the opportunity to share their immediate business issues with the tutor and peer group, and gain confidence in a complex area of their
