Why are we running a residency?

We see this residency as a testing ground to help us understand how we can better respond to the following questions:

  • What does it mean for a university to have a public art programme and connect to its locality and neighbourhood?
  • What are the resources we can share?
  • What expertise and experience can we exchange?
  • What does it mean for an artist to have space to make work in London, when space is contested and unaffordable?
  • Who holds and has the power to decide how, and by who, space is used?
  • How do we invite the outside in?
