Online Portfolio

PebblePad is an eportfolio tool which enables applicants to upload files and create a portfolio to support their application. If you are required to submit work via PebblePad, you will be sent an email with your user name and password and a link to access the system.

If you are asked to submit a portfolio to PebblePad then it will be as part of the initial assessment. Based on the portfolio that you submit, you may subsequently be invited to an interview, to which you may be asked to bring a full portfolio.

Some courses will ask you to come to interview without requesting that you submit an online portfolio in PebblePad, in which case you would bring your full portfolio with you to interview.

Please remember to check your spam folder.

Uploading your portfolio

When and how do I upload my portfolio using PebblePad?

Not all courses will look at your application at the same time so you will be emailed individually when each course is ready for you to upload your portfolio.

  1. Once you log in and click on the course that you need to create a portfolio for, click on the ‘Portfolio’ tab at the top left of the page.
  2. To upload a file, click on the ‘choose media’ button to select the files you want to upload.

Why can’t I upload one of my files?

The only files that can be uploaded are:

  • Images: bmp, gif, jpg, jpeg, png
  • Audio: mp3, mp4, ogg, wav, wma
  • Video: avi, mp4, mpg, mpeg, mkv, mov, wmv

My files are quite big, what is the maximum file limit?

Please do not upload images more than 4000 pixels. The system reduces the size of the image to 4000 pixels so any more than this will only be reduced and there will be no additional benefit.

I can’t see all the courses in PebblePad that I have applied to

Not all courses will look at your application at the same time so you will be emailed individually when each course is ready for you to upload your portfolio.

Where can I upload my 250 word statement?

Not all courses request a 250 word statement. For those which do, this statement may be enetered into the last expandable description text box on the portfolio images submission page.

After submitting your portfolio

How do I know if my portfolio has been received?

You will receive an email telling you that it has been submitted successfully.

You should also see a “Submitted” status on the home screen of your PebblePad account.

Can I change my portfolio or images after I have submitted?

Unfortunately your submitted portfolio is final and you cannot change the content.

I submitted by accident – what can I do?

Complete the enquiry form and we will check with the relevant Course Administrator regarding whether or not they will accept a late submission.

When will I hear if my submission has been successful?

We try to consider applications quickly but some courses have huge amounts of applications to look at. All decisions will be sent to your UCAS Track and we will email you if we would like to invite you to interview.

We always aim to return decisions to you by the Reject by Default deadlines.

Late submissions

Can I submit my portfolio after the deadline date?

Complete the enquiry form and we will check with the relevant Course Administrator regarding whether or not they will accept a late submission.

Please note, there is no guarantee that the course will consider a portfolio submitted late and your application may be withdrawn.

Extra images/offline portfolios

Can I submit extra images or send an additional portfolio?

No, we believe in fair admissions so we expect applicants per course to submit the same amount of images so that they can be fairly assessed.

Some courses ask for more files than others but all applicants for that course will need to submit the same amount.

We may ask applicants to submit a full portfolio if we ask them to come for an interview and they are unable to attend.

Do I have to use PebblePad or can I just bring a physical portfolio into the college?

If you are asked to submit a portfolio to PebblePad then it will be as part of the initial assessment. Based on the portfolio that you submit, you may subsequently be asked to come for an interview, in which case then you would need to bring your full portfolio with you.

Some courses will ask you to come to interview without requesting that you submit an online portfolio in PebblePad, in which case you would bring your full portfolio with you to interview.
