An exploration into the ongoing influence of computer technology on the production and documentation of sculpture

My practice involves the creation of 3D forms using 3D modelling software, which I output as photorealistically rendered images and as 3D printed objects.
I am interested in the relationship between the rendered image and the printed object compared to the polygonal data stored inside the computer. The issue of computers being able to produce photorealistic renderings is an important one.
If sculptors can produce photorealistic renderings of their work that looks indistinguishable to a photograph, this raises the question: which is the more authentic expression of the dataform inside the computer - the printed object or the photorealistic rendering?
