Introduction to Slow Fashion Taster Online Short Course

Course description

Join us on this taster course and gain an insight into the world of Slow Fashion.

This taster session is ideal for anyone with an interest in this area. Whether you are considering taking a short course, further study, or just have a curiosity and would like to learn more about the subject for your own projects.

During this taster session, you will be introduced to slow fashion by comparing and contrasting the fashion business in the past to our fashion business now so we can understand why our future fashion industry is under scrutiny, what is greenwashing and why is it an issue. We will explore why the slow fashion movement is growing in importance particularly for new fashion business development and graduate career growth.

You will wear or showcase an item of clothing you have had for more than 5 years to discuss.

Who should attend?

This taster session is aimed at anyone with an interest in:

  • Circular fashion, and or
  • is thinking of opening up a sustainable fashion business or
  • would like to understand how they as individuals can make a difference or
  • is thinking of studying this subject at a higher level with a view to applying for a career in fashion sustainability
  • No previous knowledge is required to attend this taster session

Course outcomes

By the end of this taster course students should:

  • Gain an understanding of why slow fashion is gaining influence in buying choices
  • Have an introduction to why jobs in circular business practice are on the increase
  • Have a taste of how you can make a difference in your personal lifestyle choices
  • Experience how to recognise greenwashing

Delivered by one of our professional and experienced tutors Schelay McCarter this session we will give you an insight into slow fashion.
You will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and leave with a greater awareness of slow fashion and of your potential.
