There are several stages to the application process for UAL students to go on exchanges.
What happens when you apply for an exchange
The application process involves the following:
- Choosing where to apply and learning what it entails;
- Online application and selection by the Course leader/Programme director;
- Application to the host university and selection;
- Application for the Erasmus grant (in case of Erasmus exchanges)
- Application for the Turing grant (in case of exchanges that are covered by Turing).
It is important to start your application as soon as possible in order to have time to discuss it with your Course Leader or Programme Director, so you can get all the help you need.
Please be aware that your place will not be guaranteed until the end of the process, i.e. until the host institution has confirmed your mobility and you comply with all the visa and financial requirements.

Enrol at UAL
It is very important that you enrol at UAL before you depart. This is particularly important if your exchange is in the autumn term and you leave before the start of your home College year. Please consult with your College administration if you have any doubts on the enrolment procedure.
Non-enrolled students will not be covered by UAL insurance policy.
You can find information on enrolment processes on the Enrol page.
