Course description
This inspirational and practical fashion design course will immerse you in the world of the fashion designer and will help you understand how they undertake the fashion design process. We will introduce you to the principles of fashion design and fashion drawing and show you how to develop your ideas from extensive research.

Who should attend Introduction to Fashion Design short course?
This course is suitable for beginners. You should have an interest in the subject area and a desire to learn but no previous experience is required.
Clear, easy to understand lessons:
- Our tutors will explain things in easy to understand, accessible English. If they need to use any special terminology they will make sure they explain what they mean.

Details
The course covers:
- Experimental fashion design analysis
- Primary and secondary design research
- Refining design ideas for your chosen market
- Creating mood boards for colour selection
- Fabric awareness
- Basic fashion drawing techniques
- Exploring different media
Materials
In order to get the most out of this course you should bring the following materials to your first session:
- An A3 layout pad
- Pencils and fine black fibre tip pens
- Glue stick
- Magic marker or brush pen in your choice of skin tone
- Laptop/iPad/tablet
These can be purchased from any good art shop. As part of your research you will be required to do some printing. Please bring a small amount of cash to the course on your first day to credit your printing account. It is unlikely you will need to spend more than £5.
