Ellis' story

Ellis is among hundreds of UAL students realising their creative potential thanks to funding.

With a clear ambition to become an independent jeweller and run her own business, Ellis Mhairi Cameron enrolled on the MA Design: Jewellery course at Central Saint Martins.

“Central Saint Martins is a very prestigious school with a great reputation for building the career of designers. I knew that studying here would help build my career as a jeweller,” Ellis explains.

Deciding to run your own business is a huge financial commitment, so receiving the UAL Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate Scholarship was the support Ellis really needed. “I’ve always been very positive about my future career, but the scholarship was a real boost and helped me a lot financially.”

Ellis is focussing on a new jewellery collection to launch in 2017 and enjoys working in the diverse environment at CSM. “I’m learning a lot about the cultures in other countries and how other people think. It’s a great environment to be in.”
