This course is designed for beginner and intermediate level illustrators. The course aims to capture the essence of the BA Graphic Design course at Central Saint Martins. If you have just started on your illustration journey or have been experimenting with your visual language for a while then you should find this course really interesting.

This course will take a broad outlook at illustration and will challenge what we think of as being illustration. We will look into more recognisable illustration disciplines like; sequential narrative, book covers and illustration for reportage. Other projects and workshops will use illustration to define space and communicate more abstract ideas like dreams and music.

Tutor information

Oliver O'Keefe has a Degree in Graphic Design from Central Saint Martins; graduating in 2007. Since then he has freelanced as an illustrator and teaches on the BA Graphic Design course at Central Saint Martins.

Materials

Materials Required

•  Pencils from HB – B8

•  Coloured pencils (preferably water soluble)

•  Charcoal

•  Ink (variety of colours)

•  Brushes

•  Rubber (eraser) 

•  One metallic ruler 20cm

•  Watercolours, Acrylic

•  A good quality sketchbook A4 size

•  Pack of A3 paper
