Course description

Fashion illustration is one of the most important tools that fashion designers possess for conveying and developing their ideas. This dynamic and energetic course is aimed at fashion students of all levels, including those about to commence degree level fashion studies and those who love to draw simply for pleasure.

Weather you want to learn new skills or improve your existing ones, this course will help you develop a personal style. The course will be structured so that each day will focus on a specific area, all working from the model.

Who should take this course?

The course is aimed at fashion students at all levels. Those who are about to start a degree in fashion should also benefit.

Clear, easy to understand lessons:

  • Our tutors will explain things in easy to understand, accessible English. If they need to use any special terminology they will make sure they explain what they mean.
  • New methods will be shown to students through live demonstrations, in a way that’s crystal clear and easy to understand.

  • As long as you attend a minimum of 80% of your classes, we will provide you with a certificate of attendance.
  • We always recommend you attend all of the classes so that you get the most out of the experience!
  • Certificates are great to complement your cv.

This course is scheduled to run on campus in a face-to-face delivery format. Please note that due to the ongoing pandemic situation this course may be adapted in line with UK government guidance or other operational requirements. This may include changing course location (to another UAL site), cancellation of the course, or moving part or all of the course online. In the event of any changes being required we will inform you as soon as possible and support you in any changes required. Please bear this in mind when making any travel, visa, or accommodation arrangements.

Topics covered:

Through various techniques and themes including line pose and collage, and alongside exploring a wide range of materials, the course will help you develop your own style, allowing you to learn new skills or improve existing ones.

Throughout the course we encourage our students to work intuitively, and overcome fear - whether that be of drawing in general, or being paralysed by the thought of making a mistake

Materials

Please bring to the first session:

  • A2 cartridge paper (white plus a variety of colours)
  • B pencils/ graphite pencil
  • Water solluable pencil/s
  • paint brushes of various sizes
  • Black ink
  • Water colours, paint (inks, acrylics)
  • Mixing tray
  • Pastels (oil and chalk)
  • Scissors
  • Prit- stick
  • Masking tape 1"
