Introduction to Digital Pattern Cutting for Production Short Course
Course description
Course overview
The digital pattern-making course will provide an overview of how computer-aided design and manufacturing can be applied to the traditional skills of pattern cutting, grading, lay planning and fashion design. You will learn to use various digital pattern design tools like CAD/CAM software packages including Gerber and Optitex 3D.
The course will start with an introduction to the digital pattern design tools currently being used in pattern production. Students will then gain first-hand experience using Gerber Pattern Design software for pattern development and complete a pattern to industry standards. The course will also cover pattern grading as well as lay planning and costing. Students will then get the opportunity to practice and make a digital sample of their custom pattern using Optitex 3D software.
Please note: Bookings will be accepted up to 72 hours before the start of the course, as licenses for Gerber AccuMarkx, a 2D/3D digital patternmaking software, are set up for students in advance to use for the duration of the course.
Who this course is for
This course is suitable for anyone interested in digital pattern cutting for productions, regardless of prior experience. Beginners are welcome, as are those looking to expand existing knowledge.
