Design Thinking Innovation Accelerator
CONNECT, COLLABORATE, INNOVATE is a mantra adopted by smart companies big and small. Companies with the innovation gene switched on display creativity, powerful networks and the ability to experiment without fear of failure.
This 10 week course addresses the following key questions: How do you innovate? What mindset, process and environment do you need to have in order to innovate? How can your team come up with innovative solutions, products or services? Generating ideas is great, but it doesn't end there. How can you use those brilliant ideas to create value? Our approach to innovation is human-centered. This course is at the intersection of Design Thinking and Learn, bringing in instruments like Business Model Canvas and Theory of Change.
You will start by discovering and learning about yourself as innovator, your mindset, the approach to finding and solving problems, your risk profile, the creative environment and innovation networks.
Through hands-on workshops, you will use the design thinking process to explore challenges, conduct primary research, practice observation and interviewing in order to create a deep understanding for the people that have the challenge. You will use a rich toolbox to frame and define problems, turn those problems into opportunities for innovative solutions and plan for implementation that creates value for the company, individual and society.
You will learn how to use ideation techniques beyond brainstorming, how to determine criteria for selection of ideas and how to co-create with users/customers/networks in the form of Open Innovation.
Prototyping, testing, giving and receiving feedback will take you through the experimentation process, where you can fail early in a safe environment.
No innovation is complete without being able to tell its story. You will use storytelling techniques to present your ideas from a tweet to a pitch in a compelling and inspiring way.
You will be able to use the methods and tools straightaway in your own context. By the end of the course you will have had plenty of practice to build your creative confidence to apply the human centred approach to innovation.

Dr. Julia Goga-Cooke is an academic, journalist, innovation network architect and entrepreneur. She specialises in creating collaborative networks for innovation, and helping companies create capabilities to innovate. Julia is based in London and is Chief Creative Director of Gconsultancy. Julia's approach to innovation combines Forecasting with Design Thinking and Storytelling for success. She publishes a weekly zine Inspire to Innovate , and blogs at Gnews. She has a Ph.D in linguistics and is alum of CSM, LBS, d.school, MIT COINS.
