Carmen Hijosa, the Founder of Ananas Anam Ltd, who developed Piñatex® - a new natural material made from pineapple leaf fibre - is an ethical entrepreneur with a vision for a more sustainable future, connecting people, ecology and economics.

At this event Carmen will talk about the journey of Piñatex® which began when she realized the toxic impact of mass leather production while consulting in the Philippines. Driven to find alternative solutions, Carmen undertook a PhD at the Royal College of Art (UK), and developed a vibrant new industry that is both socially and environmentally responsible – developing new sustainable materials for clothing and accessories.
