The Storms of Jeremy Thomas

David P. Kelly has produced a documentary on prolific, Oscar-winning filmmaker/producer Jeremy Thomas.

A 1984 Fine Art graduate from Central Saint Martins, David has extensive experience of producing, executive producing and story development on UK and International films.

There aren’t many films about movie producers, but David believed that the scale and daring of Jeremy Thomas’s career made him a fascinating subject. In 2018, David approached Jeremy with an idea for a documentary about his films and life in cinema.

Jeremy’s work in my view has shone a remarkable light on the human condition across 67 feature films over a 45-year span to become the only fully-independent British company with a history of making truly significant UK and International films – a true inspiration.

The Storms of Jeremy Thomas

For decades Jeremy has driven from England to the Cannes Film Festival, this time he’s joined by filmmaker Mark Cousins.

Mark filmed over 5 days, and the result is The Storms of Jeremy Thomas, an intimate road movie through rural France with rich insight into creativity and survival. It’s a passionate call to arms for movies that get to the heart of life.

Told mostly in Jeremy’s own words, clips from his films are spliced in, along with interviews with his many admirers and colleagues, including Tilda Swinton and Debra Winger.

The Storms of Jeremy Strong is released on 23 September in the US by Cohen Media group.
