I work in various mediums, including drawings, printmaking, painting, and film. My work centers on capturing the essence of everyday life, often drawing inspiration from cinematic aesthetics and the rich history of London. A significant part of my process involves delving into untold stories and forgotten histories, often by researching archives and exploring popular media sources like film, television, and magazines to inspire my imagery.

My career journey has been a dynamic one, spanning a multitude of creative roles. I've contributed to projects like window displays and scenic painting on film sets while nurturing my own artistic practice and participating in exhibitions. Over the last two years, I've taken on the role of curator at my studio, Spitalfields Studios in Aldgate East. I'm also a proud member of a painting collective known as the Urban Contemporaries. Currently, I'm pursuing an MA in Contemporary Art at the Sotheby's Institute of Art.

During my time as a student at UAL, I often wished for a community like the AoCA Alumni Association, which motivated me to join. I believe that diversity and inclusion are paramount in the art world, and I am passionate about ensuring that all UAL students have a welcoming community they can be part of.

I aspire to share my skills and expertise to help organising AoCA events and create opportunities for our alumni. By offering my knowledge to the community, I hope to foster exciting collaborations and mutual growth.

UAL holds a special place in my heart, as I completed my foundation in art and design at Camberwell and earned my BA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins (CSM). I appreciate how each UAL campus has its unique identity, and it's amazing to see UAL alumni making their mark throughout the art world, no matter where you go.

Hi, my name is Nil, and I studied at London College of Fashion, UAL from 1996 to 2003.

I always loved creating when I was a kid, from drawing clothes and singing to acting and playing sports. I was drawn to anything creative.

I had my sights set on attending LCF ever since I was in secondary school. I made it one of my goals to attend. The day I was accepted was one of the best days of my life. That’s when my journey started. Studying at LCF taught me so much, it pushed me and made me realise my potential. Not to mention the opportunity to meet amazing people like my tutors and friends who inspired me and with whom I’m still in touch with. Friends for life. And now I’m making new friends and being reacquainted with old ones thanks to our amazing alumni family.

During my time at LCF I was based at the Barrett Street, John Princess Street, Davies Street, and Curtain Road campuses.

I first started with BTEC in Fashion Design and Technology for 2 years, then did a Foundation in Art and Design for 1 year, and finished with a BA (Hons) degree in Fashion Design and Technology, specialising in tailoring. I worked with Vivienne Westwood’s brand both in the studio and in the shops to have an in-depth understanding of her work and ethos. I enjoyed my role very much and LCF prepared me for the fast-paced environment that the world of fashion is and all the tight deadlines I was expected to meet!!

Outside of fashion, I’m the best female snakeboarder in the UK. I used to bring my board into LCF all the time when I was a student.

Years of experience and history make me a fantastic asset to the Alumni of Colour Association (AoCA); with a willingness to give back to my fellow peers and new students. I'm always around for anyone wanting to reach out and know more. I hope to bring a wealth of experience and knowledge in all areas of fashion design and art even though my ideas can be "off the wall".

Visiting LCF before its closure was an emotional experience; I went as much as I could and paid tribute and respect to the years of growth and learning. I honored all the amazing times. I love being a former LCF student and I couldn’t feel prouder.

I can't wait to visit the new Stratford campus and make new memories, which is what I hope to do by volunteering, talking to new students, inspiring, and being present.
