Made in Arts London & See start up presents: Talk about new career paths for artists.

Pop along to Chelsea next Monday and you will have the opportunity to listen to Toby Kress discussing the new career paths available to artists.  Historically artists and designers have found traditional ways to support themselves including getting a job, pursuing residences or grant funding.  These days artists and designers are using much more entrepreneurial means of supporting their paths to success.  More and more students and graduates use online platforms not only to  generate more interest in their work but also to sell.  Students are also finding ways to develop collaborations and having multiple creative careers in art and design.

The talk that has been organised by Made in Arts London in collaboration with See start-up will leave attendees with a deeper understanding of how the professional landscape for artists is changing. It aims to leave students feeling more open minded about their careers after university and spark some fresh ideas about how to sustain creative practice after study.

The talk will be led by Tony Kress, a fine art alumni of University of the Arts.  Kress runs the hugely successful conference REMIX  a global summit for Culture, Entrepreneurship and Technology, in partnership with the British Council, Bloomberg and Google among others.

Toby was formerly General Manger at Frith Street Gallery, a major London contemporary art gallery and prior to this he was Managing Director for Exit Art in New York. Toby recently received his MBA from London Business School.
