Celebrating the first anniversary of the Jane Rapley Scholarship Fund
A year on from the creation of the Jane Rapley Scholarship Fund, on Wednesday 18th September 2013, Professor Emeritas and former Head of College Jane Rapley hosted an event at Central Saint Martins to celebrate the first year of her Scholarship Fund, and thank all those who have generously donated to it. In its first 12 months, thanks to support by alumni, staff and friends of Central Saint Martins, we have been able to award three scholarships to Central Saint Martins post-graduate students, to support them in their final year of study.

At the event in September, which welcomed many donors to the College, Jane spoke about the importance of scholarships such as these in the current climate of increased course fees and arts funding cuts. She emphasised her wish to create scholarships which supported talented students, in urgent need of additional financial support in order to complete their post-graduate studies at the College. During her speech, Jane also thanked everyone at the event for their kind donations to the Fund, and requested people’s continued support for the years ahead. Donor to the Fund and former Chair to the Court of Governors Will Wyatt also spoke of the importance of scholarship funds such as these, and thanked Jane for her inspiring support and commitment to CSM and its students, in setting up this worthwhile scheme. Scholarship recipients Anita-Joy Uwajeh and Eleanor Fawcett spoke of what an impact receiving these scholarships had on them. All with financial pressures, these awards meant they could focus more on their studies, and ensured they could complete their courses. In order to continue awarding the Jane Rapley Scholarships to further post-graduate students at Central Saint Martins, we do rely on donations from our friends, staff and alumni.
