Three recent LCF graduates have been selected to show new work for Bright Young Things 2013 in Selfridges’ prestigious windows and a specially designed concept store.

Selected by a Selfridges panel led by Creative Director Alannah Weston, the Bright Young Things of 2013 are 15 UK-based rising stars from the worlds of fashion, art, design and food.

The showcased designers’ work is now on sale in Selfridges’ flagship store and through a special interactive online platform.

Sarah Williams who founded Williams British Handmade just after she graduated with an MA in Fashion Artefact in 2010, has been selected for her carefully crafted bags. Described by Selfridges as “utterly original, expertly crafted and extremely desirable”, Sarah’s hand-stitched artisan luggage cases combine leather and gold.

Also selected is winner of the 2011 Best Fashion Graduate award by Vogue UK, Yeashin Kim, BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear, who fuses psychedelic British costume from the 60’s with traditional dresses from her home country of South Korea.

Cari Marsden, who graduated from an MA in Digital Fashion in 2012, is using the opportunity at Selfridges to showcase her futuristic modular fashion label CO-LAB. Focusing on the idea of co-creation between designer and consumer, CO-LAB designs encourage the wearer to customise each piece with traditional knotting and threading techniques.

The LCF alumni will also share their talents at a series of free events this September in the store where Sarah will lead a box covering workshop, Yeashin will talk about her designs, and Cari will lead a bracelet workshop.

You can check out the Bright Young Things 2013 in Selfridges’ windows and concept store until 17 October.
