Camberwell BA Illustration graduate Grace Helmer wins V&A Illustration Award

Camberwell College of Arts BA Illustration graduate Grace Helmer has won a V&A Illustration Award. Her illustrations for Primo Levi’s ‘The Fugitive’ were awarded 1st prize in the student category, earning her the title of ‘Student Illustrator of the Year ‘.

‘The judges were struck by the mood and sense of place Grace achieved. They praised her strong and painterly visual language and said, ‘These outstandingly comprehensive illustrations for Primo Levi’s ‘The Fugitive’ are both bold and subtle – no mean feat!’

The V&A Illustration Awards celebrate the best illustration published over the last year. Original artwork from the best illustrated book, book cover, editorial illustration and student illustrator of the year are recognised.
