Powerful, feminine and sexy, Hasan Hejazi’s (MA Fashion Design Technology 2010 alumnus)  Autumn/Winter 2013-14 collection, on show at the Swarovski Lounge yesterday, proved just how bright the future is for the LCF educated designer.

Specialising in bold, glamorous eveningwear, Hejazi explains how he always designs with real women in mind. “I’ve done all the experimenting and have got to the stage now where I want to create clothes that women can actually wear, but whilst keeping the design exciting at the same time.”

What is so brilliant about this collection is the seductive, feminine silhouette the garments create, combined with a chic and sophisticated colour palette. Hejazi explains that this is because he “wasn’t doing anything crazy or wasn’t using crazy fabrics, so the concentration was in the detail, ensuring that the fit and silhouette were beautiful.”

Known for his attention to detail and commitment to quality, Hejazi’s ultra feminine style is one that many celebrities have embraced. From Jessie J to Kylie Minogue, his designs have won an impressive celebrity following and this is something that Hejazi describes as “particularly exciting.”

“My first LP was Kylie Minogue,” he recalls. “I love all the gay icons – they are the ones I sit at home listening to whilst I design – so to see Kylie in one of my dresses was amazing, especially since she not only wore the dress, but also bought it as well!”

Getting his dresses onto the red carpet is Hejazi’s next goal, with actresses Anna Friel and Emily Blunt at the top of his wishlist. But what is the key to achieving as much success as Hejazi in such a short time since graduating? “The most important thing is that you need to be excited and passionate and able to deal with all the rejection and the no’s that come with the job,” says Hejazi. “You’ve got to be passionate and you’ve got to have drive.”
