Design for Food
Initiated by Professor Lucy Orta Chair of Art & the Environment, Design for Food is a two-year programme of design workshops, talks and seminars leading to practical responses on the related subject of Food and its potential impact upon personal and community well-being. Design for Food reflects on the role of art and design communities can play in improve people’s understanding of the role of food in their lives.
Design for Food - Bread and Butter Performance
On 4 Feb 2016, students from a range of courses and stages at Central Saint Martins participated in a bread baking event. The initiative was organised by Professor Lucy Orta who was joined by Chef Lee Clarke, provocation artist and straw weaving milliner Eloise Moody, video and performance artist Jemima Burrill and vocalist Odeya Nini.
In addition to the live performative workshop, the event saw a number of food stalls and student society stalls from Baxter Storey and our UAL student societies.
