This is a great introduction into the leather accessories making process and will help you develop essential sewing skills. To start, you will learn how to thread a cylinder arm machine and wind a bobbin. You will then progress to learning a range of stitch techniques. By the end of the five days you will have made a pack of stitch samples and be confident in using industrial sewing machines. You will also create a fabric bag to keep all your samples in.
The course includes:
Beginners. You should have an interest in the subject area and a desire to learn but no previous experience is required.
Your course place is confirmed once you have booked online or via the phone using a credit or debit card. There is no deadline for booking. Places are offered on a first come, first served basis, and all courses have a maximum number of students. We suggest you book early to avoid disappointment.
Elaine Loft is a designer maker with 35+ years experience in the field of footwear and accessories. After training at the world famous Cordwainers College (now part of London College of Fashion), Elaine worked in the industry and travelled to Italy to develop her skills and knowledge of bespoke and fashion leather goods. She returned to Cordwainers in 1984 to begin her teaching career, where she remained for 26 years before leaving to pursue her own business and develop her collection in 2011.
