What took so long?…

A leaked memo from Conde Nast stated that the publisher would no longer work with photographer Terry Richardson. The memo requested that all future commissions be cancelled and any planned shoots be replaced. The ban is in response to mounting evidence that Richardson abused models on his shoots. Fashion house Valentino also announced that they would no longer work with him. While the rumours have been circulating for a long time it has taken the ongoing Weinstein case for the fashion industry to take action. LCF lecturer Caryn Franklin has been discussing the fashion industry’s complicity in Richardson’s abuse for years but to little avail. 

Best of British…

The British Fashion Council has announced the nominees for the annual British Fashion Awards. Dubbed the fashion Oscars, the awards acknowledge established and emerging designers, models, business leaders and accessory brands. LCF alumni Jonathan Anderson is nominated for three awards – designer of the year for menswear and womenswear for his own label and accessories designer for his work with Loewe; and Fashion Business School alumni Guram Gvasalia of Vetements has been nominated for business leader. The awards take place on 4th December.

Taste of Scotch…

Hunter boots took some Highland mist to New York’s Grand Central station with a pop up greenhouse that allows visitors to experience the brand’s rainwear in its original environment. Visitors to the greenhouse are met with sounds of rain, moss underfoot and some good old Scottish drizzle.

What does one wear in The Upside Down?…

To celebrate the much anticipated premier of Stranger Things 2, Topshop has partnered with Netflix to create an amazing immersive experience online and in selected stores across the UK. Flagship shops are allowing customers to test their powers in the Hawkins Lab, play in the arcade and visit Barb’s shrine.  There is also the opportunity to ‘strangify’ the website and turn everything upside down. The Topshop logo has transformed into the iconic Stranger Things type and they are selling a range of clothing and accessories which are perfect attire of binge watching series 2 this weekend.
