What does self-care mean to you? For some, it may be giving yourself a manicure or raising a glass of something and enjoying a well-deserved break after the week's challenges. For others it may be the time to take a few steps towards improving mental health. During lockdown, we may consider the premise differently, but remember, we all have one thing in common, we are all human. So help others to help yourself, and enjoy and share the tips and resources we have found to help you and your loved ones with your self-care this weekend.
Detox from tech
While it’s important to stay connected during lockdown, it’s also important to take a break. Whether it’s your phone, TV or laptop take a break from the screens, dig out an old board game or your holiday pack of playing cards and spend some time offline.
Lifestyle
Keep some structure to your day, scheduling in your meals and exercise. Get involved with:
- #Walkingfromhome blog series by Living Streets
- Tuck into healthy meals from Mind Over Munch.
- Get fit in the living room with Joe Wick’s The Body Coach
Your wellbeing
Many companies are offering wellbeing services and resources during lockdown, so here’s just a few of our favourites:
- Fresh Air Fridays Podcast course
- NHS’s Every Mind Matters staying at home tips.
- UAL Chaplaincy mindful meditation sessions
And most importantly, if you are struggling, don’t suffer in silence, here’s a long list of helplines available for various needs. The NHS are still open for business and if you are suffering, you can always call 111 anytime.
Beauty & Fashion
Spend the weekend going through your wardrobe, finally make that pile of your old treasures for the charity shop and you never know - you may pull out that gem of a blouse you forgot about that would be perfect for that Teams meeting or online lecture you have on Monday.
