LCF is holding it’s first stand alone MA Womenswear catwalk show on Thursday 19th February. As part of our Graduate Spotlight series we will be speaking to the 12 womenswear students whose final collections will feature in the show. Here LCF News speaks to Yutong Jiang. The show will be live streamed from the LCF Channel at 7.30PM GMT on 19th February 2015
LCF News: Tell us about your final collection?
Yutong Jiang: ‘Naughty girl’ emerged as the initial character and the soul of this collection. ‘Naughty’ suggests a combination of ‘Rebellious’, ‘Crazy’ and ‘Sexy’ and implies a sense of humour. A naughty girl never obeys rules; she is crazy, wacky and foxy. Her style is mixed and random; she can wear eveningwear when riding a bike, she can wear a fur coat on a tennis court, jeans and a T-shirt to parties… She is just having fun. So I decide to choose the shade of pink close to bubble gum and a shade of red representative of the lips – temptation! I also did a lot of draping to imitate girls’ lips.
LCF News: Where did you study prior to your MA at LCF?
YJ: Donghua University in Shanghai
LCF News: What are your future plans?
YJ: I’ve decided to set up a brand with my classmate SHUSHU called SHUSHU/TONG, it will be a
high-end street style independent design brand.
LCF News: How do you think the course will help you to realise these plans?
YJ: First of all, I found my personal identity during this period of my study. Also, the university is great at promoting students – LCF can promote me to an International stage.
LCF News: What advice would you give to anyone considering studying an MA at LCF?
YJ: It is a good and warm place to study, work hard and show your identity.
