Alongside courses in the design, management and communication of fashion, LCF offers courses in beauty and spa management. Here, as part of the BA14 season, we talk to FdSc Beauty and Spa Management student Violeta Petrimari about her experience of the course and future plans.

LCF: What have you enjoyed most about studying at LCF?
Violeta Petrimari: I have absolutely loved the team of lecturers; all of them are experts in their field. I have enjoyed that I always had a great example to learn from.

I have enjoyed that our college collaborates with such big brands in the beauty and spa industries: Guinot, Decleor, Spa Find, Dermalogica, Eve Taylor. It was great experience to work with those brands and being qualified in performing their treatments is seen as a mark of professionalism.  The College arranges a lot of opportunities and is in the middle of the action. I liked that it is quite famous all over London, and its unique location.

LCF: Have you undertaken work experience or won any prizes?
VP: I won Demalogica’s “Student of the Year 2013” competition. There is an article written about my award and my life in London in a newspaper/magazine from my home country, Romania. I have also had experience working in salons and spas in central London.

LCF: What inspires you?
VP: There are many things that inspire me and many of them come from different aspects of day-to-day life. Each day inspires me, the people around, the development of the industry, the wish to contribute to the beauty and spa industries, all of these things inspire me. The desire to bring something new, pleasant, useful and functional, as well as the wish to be very professional and an expert in my field moves me forward and inspires me for new challenges.

LCF: What is most important to you about fashion?
VP: To have your own style!

LCF: What are your plans for the future? And how do you feel your course will help you?
VP: Life is very unpredictable, so we never know what it can bring. For example, during my 2 years of study, some unexpected things happened that have completely changed my plans for future. I plan to start working the with world-renowned Dermalogica. My course had a vital impact on my future choice; it actually introduced me to the company and their philosophy. We even visited the head office outside London as a part of my course, which was very impressive and useful.

LCF: What advice would you give someone wanting to study for a BA at LCF?
VP: I would strongly advice to choose a subject that you are very passionate about, as it requires a lot of hard work, enthusiasm and dedication to complete all the work.  I would advise them to attend all the classes, be active, ask as many questions as they can think of and make the most out of their studies at London College of Fashion! Good luck!
