Year 2 BA (Hons) Fashion Imaging and Illustration students were tasked with a brief to create animations to promote Bethany William's new collection that's just landed in stores – The Hands That Heal Us. The students have explored their immediate responses to the themes the collection explores, and have been challenged to create a commercial piece of work with Bethany Williams as the live client. The designs needed to encompass a key element of the collection theme, be that the makers, community, or tools used in making the collection. The collection is inspired by the ever-growing community of makers, creatives, and local and social manufacturers all of whom play an integral part in the Bethany Williams brand and supply chain.
"Working to a live industry brief with a ‘real world’ context and a timeframe for completion was an invaluable experience for our students. Being able to gain an insight into the ethos and practices of Bethany Williams as a brand, during our unit which had sustainability embedded into its core, was very inspiring. The opportunity to receive feedback on their work from the Bethany Williams’ team has enriched our student experience and helped them to develop subject specific skills and to better understand their role in the industry as future creative practitioners." - Ana Stankovic-Fitzgerald - Lecturer BA (Hons) Fashion Imaging and Illustration

"I had an amazing experience working on an industry brief with Bethany Williams. It was a great way to challenge myself and be more confident with my work." - Laura Martins
This experience was challenging in the best way and gave me an enlightening insight into how the industry operates. The feedback was really valuable to learn how to individually improve for future opportunities." - Chloe Lau
“Being able to have the opportunity, let alone to be selected by a brand as fashion forward as Bethany Williams was a real eye opener to the reality of the freelance fashion industry. The quick turnaround alongside our current project was stressful and time consuming however it was great to have a real life brief to fulfil. I personally have always been a big fan of Bethany Williams and had studied their work prior to university so that was really exciting for me!” - Carys Watson
