Radina Stoyanova

Virtual Surgeon

In Radina's words...

"The Virtual Surgeon is a simulation of heart bypass surgery in VR. This medical experience serves as a training tool for doctors and students to practice this particular operation in VR without any risk of harming a real human being.

"Virtual Surgeon is a serious single-player game in which the user must follow certain steps to complete the operation successfully. The first part of the experience is a trial in which the user has a quick overview of what the surgical steps are and instructions that provide information about the interactions with the virtual body. The second part is the actual operation where the users have to practice their knowledge of the subject.

"The main goal of this project is to prove that virtual reality training is more accessible, and the surgeon's possible mistakes will not affect anyone's life. It also enables users to exercise their skills at home as the new headsets become more affordable and easier to use."
