A student and lecturer from MA Public Relations at London College of Communication (LCC) have come together to put their skills to work on publicising the Windrush Caribbean Film Festival.

MA PR student Karl-Lydie Jean-Baptiste and tutor Evadney Campbell, MBE worked on the UK-wide festival, which included a showcase of best films during Black History Month.

The aim of the Windrush Caribbean Film Festival (WCFF) is to engage and educate audiences through films, talkbacks and workshops about the contributions of the Windrush generation and its impact on the UK.  As a result of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the 2021 festival was streamed virtually.

Evadney is founder of Shiloh PR and a specialist media relations tutor at LCC. She explained the aims of the project:

“Our PR work on the Windrush Caribbean Film Festival was all about telling our own stories and owning our own narrative.

"Moreover, by educating the wider community on Windrush, we wanted to use PR in ways that hopefully addresses some of the racism that comes as the result of ignorance.

“It was wonderful to have Karl-Lydie involved in the project this year.”
