London College of Fashion, UAL’s new building at East Bank on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park provides a variety of closed and open learning spaces for learning, teaching, studying, socialising, and relaxing.

Study spaces

If you are looking for somewhere to study, our library on level 2 has silent areas and relaxed spaces for collaborative work, and there are plenty of IT hubs and social learning spaces across the building to meet friends and establish new connections.

Green spaces outside and inside

Outside, you can enjoy the green public spaces on East Bank’s Stratford Waterfront and the Park’s vast green spaces and feel the positive energy from the many and varied plant life! These spaces can be used for contemplation, reflection, well-being, interaction, and social engagement.

The Park plays a key role in connecting East London’s biodiversity to local communities, as part of the River Lea wildlife corridor between the Thames and open countryside to the North of London, providing 78 miles of connected open spaces, and a home for hundreds of different bird’s, plants, fish and insects. Read more about biodiversity on the Park.

Inside, as well as open terraces located on levels 4, 6, 8, 10, and 11, there is also a Garden Terrace on level 12, a calm green space for chilling and relaxing. The tiered terraces provide an informal outdoor space to meet fellow classmates, view our East Bank partner buildings and take in the green open spaces on the Park.

Socialising at East Bank

In addition to the closed and open learning spaces across the building, there are a range of hangout and social areas inside the new East Bank campus and outside on the public realm. These are areas where students can take time out, meet up with friends, and work independently between lectures, seminars, and studio working:

Café and reception area on the ground floor

For quick snack stops between teaching and learning. You can also check in at our Front of House Reception if you have any questions about the building and how to access services

Social learning area on level 1, located behind the ID card barriers

A comfy, informal seating area for meeting people and interacting with the public.

Lounge and terraces

Lounge and terrace areas (on levels 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, and 12) provide comfortable informal seating for students to relax and chat in between timetabled teaching.  Students on level 4 can make appointments to drop in to see Student Support Services or pop along to see the Arts SU.

Dining hall, café, pizzeria, and terrace on level 10

Grab a bite to eat and ‘hang out’ with lovely views of the Stratford skyline. Read more in ‘What’s on the menu at East Bank’ on LCF Stories.
