Adrian Crookes

Associate Dean, Media School
London College of Communication
Person Type
Adrian Crookes

Adrian Crookes is Associate Dean in the Media School at London College of Communication (LCC). Adrian joined LCC in 2010 after three decades in media and communication practice.

After gaining a BSc in Psychology from Lancaster University, Adrian worked as a broadcaster for radio stations in Sheffield and Peterborough and was latterly a Programme Director for the GWR Group, (then the largest operator of commercial radio stations in the UK), where he managed two radio brands.

Leaving broadcasting for public relations and communication, he became first a media relations manager and subsequently Communications Director in the music publishing industry. He ran his own communication consultancy before joining academia full-time.

Adrian currently teaches persuasive communication and public opinion on our Public Relations courses and supervises student dissertations. He has taught practitioners in the UK, Europe and South America on professional courses and holds a Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations of which he is a member.

He holds a Masters in Academic Practice and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has been the recipient of a UAL Student Teaching Award in 2015 and a commendation in 2017.

Adrian's research interests are in crisis communication and education for professional practice. The interests are linked by the uncertainty of practice.  He regularly presents at communication conferences and his chapter on ‘preparedness’ as a lens through which to view professional practice education, appears in the second volume of Advances in Public Relations and Communication Management published by Emerald (2017).

Adrian is an external examiner for communication courses at Leeds Beckett University.
