As part of London College of Communication’s ongoing support to our cultural neighbours, we’re featuring a weekly round-up of some of the activities and content provided by the fantastic museums, galleries and cultural venues in our local area.

Not Without My Ghosts: The Artist As Medium at Drawing Room

“Drawing Room and Hayward Gallery Touring presents ‘Not Without My Ghosts: The Artist As Medium’, a major exhibition of artists and works inspired by mediumistic methodologies and their deep cultural history.

“To make sure we can reopen safely, we are asking visitors to pre-book free timed entry slots for the exhibition.

Happy Birthday South Social Film Festival! with South Social

“South Social Film Festival is turning 5 this September!

Restore 20 with Fora

14 – 18 September

"With the challenges of the past few months, it has really highlighted the importance of wellness and keeping mind, body and soul healthy.

"We will be hosting both in-person and online events with a line-up of feel-good workshops, inspiring panel discussions and interactive classes to support all aspects of wellbeing and spark moments of joy."

Ann Veronica Janssens: Hot Pink Turquoise at South London Gallery

23 September – 29 November

“Belgian artist Ann Veronica Janssens (b. 1956) has created an extensive body of work over four decades spanning installations, projections, immersive environments and sculptures. At the core of her practice is an interest in light and its impact on our perception and experience.

“This exhibition will be the first major presentation of Janssens’ work in London.”

Flo Smith Now & Then with Bell House & Kick in the Head Productions

Saturday 19 September, 3-5pm

"It's 1969 and a woman looks back on her life in London. From the Boer War to The Summer of Love, Flo Smith, daughter, sister, wife, mother, widow and grandmother recalls with horror, humour, tears and joy those turbulent times at home and in the world beyond her front door.

"The show is based on the book of the same name written by Christopher Saul and taken from the real-life audio recordings he made of his paternal grandmother."

Webres 2020: Building in Isolation: With Instigate Unknown and Siobhan Davies Dance Studios

Until 14 September

“We have made this to mark a time in history. In this 6-part documentary you will get to learn about Instigate Unknown, but also better understand the practices, and elements of our lives as artists, that we have been able to identify and appreciate.

“Instigate Unknown is a London based dance company that draws on both hip-hop and contemporary dance forms, with a great interest in creating work with props.”

Knitting for Beginners with Walworth Living Room
