Here we take a look at some of the work from the School of Design’s second Postgraduate Show for 2015, featuring MA Contemporary Typographic Media, MA Graphic Branding and Identity, MA Graphic Design, MA Graphic Moving Image, MDes Service Design Innovation and Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma Design for Visual Communication.
The exhibition opens Monday 7 December – Saturday 12 December, with a Private View on Monday 7 December from 6-9pm.

MA Contemporary Typographic Media students will be showing their work in LCC’s Upper Gallery. Matteo Blandford’s project is a study of British type design through the creation of a sans-serif typeface which aims to unveil the letterforms that shape the national typographic identity.

Nga Ng’s work merges a Roman typeface with a Chinese writing system with the goal to enhance international interest of Chinese language and culture by introducing an interesting and playful way to understand Chinese written communication.

The Nursery Gallery will house the work of Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma Design for Visual Communication students. Fiona Gather-Stammel’s work aims to re-engaging audiences with the significance of their physical existence outside the bounds of new digital media.
Travelling on the tube every day and experiencing the stress of a big city, Fiona’s project is inspired by how disengaged Londoners can be. Her interactive posters look at the way in which texture can inspire interaction.

MA Graphic Branding and Identity students will be showing their work in LCC’s Well Gallery. Work exhibited from this course is driven by intelligent enquiry and evaluation, challenging what is understood about the meaning of graphic branding.
It explores the strategic thinking underlying brands and focuses on how that strategy can drive the creative expression.

The Upper Gallery will also house the work of MA Graphic Design students. Weronika Rafa has created two conjoined books which explore theories of human attraction through a mixture of digital and manual methods of graphic design.
Weronika’s work deals with this meaningful yet subjective topic without shying away from the uncomfortable side of the issue. Her tongue-in-cheek books, intended to be read by two people simultaneously, encourage feelings of awkwardness and vulnerability.

MA Graphic Moving Image students will be showing their work in the College’s Lower Gallery and Lecture Theatre C. Ahram Park’s touching project ‘London and I’ is all to do with feeling lonely and anxious as an international student studying in the capital.
Ahram has visualised the emotions of students who were in her position, when she moved to London three years ago, and has created a narrative video that uses depth data to create 3D graphical elements.

MDes Service Design Innovation students will be showing their work in the Atrium Gallery. Students on this course confront design from a strategic perspective and work collaboratively with different disciplines across both public and private sectors such as transportation, healthcare, local government, technology and sustainability.
