Interaction Design students take part in Singapore and London Design Festivals

Earlier this year, BA (Hons) Interaction Design Arts student and founder of Design Says Hello, N.ZIQQ, was invited to speak at the National Design Centre as part of Singapore Design Week.

Just 6 months on, students from BA (Hons) Interaction Design Arts and MA Interaction Design Communication will soon be involved in London Design Festival as part of London College of Communication’s LDF at LCC – a special line-up of free design events run by the College.

Singapore Design Week

Singapore Design Week aims to raise awareness of good design and champions the use of design for innovation and productivity. It is open to the design community, businesses, design students and the general public.

At Singapore’s National Design Centre, N.ZIQQ shared his experiences and case studies on humanitarian design and social innovation in the developing world.

N.ZIQQ presents case studies on humanitarian design at Singapore Design Week

N.ZIQQ received 51 registrations for his talk, with United Nations Women Singapore, Ministry of Education, architects, designers, teachers and students in the audience.

He questioned what designers must take into account to cater to the needs of communities, and encouraged reflection on failures to propose positive actions for the future.

London Design Festival

As part of the forthcoming London Design Festival, BA (Hons) Interaction Design Arts and MA Interaction Design Communication students will soon take part in LDF at LCC // The Joy of Sets x The Kubrick Archive event, a sci-fi film set building workshop and exhibition.

During the workshop students will build film sets which reimagine an iconic scene from Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey using material from UAL’s Stanley Kubrick Archive, housed at LCC.

The students will be challenged to get creative and explore a rapid prototyping approach to turning ideas into reality, at full scale.

Visitors are invited to watch the exhibition’s sci-fi set building take place as the workshop unfolds within LCC’s Well Gallery from 19 – 22 September.

The full LDF at LCC programme runs from 14 September – 14 October.
