Biography

Sophia Plessas joined LCF as Course Leader for BA (Hons) Fashion Public Relations and Communication over 13 years ago. In this time, she has improved the NSS results for the course as well as overall attainment of students, and helped the course to grow in size and popularity. In her role, she has overseen numerous projects with external partners including PR and creative agencies Halpern PR, Agency Eleven and DigiFairy; as well as Camden Markets, The Now Gallery, and The Cut Project; an LCF project with the Borough of Walthamstow Forest, using fashion to tackle knife crime.

Before embarking on an academic career, Sophia worked in the fashion industry as a freelance stylist and producer, styling for various international publications. She possesses extensive branding experience having worked for a leading new product development agency, creating new ideas and concepts for major brands including Topshop, Oxfam and Virgin; and as a PR executive for the design industry. She has also completed an MA in Arts Administration from City University.

As part of her current role, Sophia launched a course-specific initiative where alumni are encouraged to volunteer their time to support final year graduates as they transition to industry, through one-to-one mentoring. This has contributed to students securing discpline specific roles in industry upon graduation.
