Monday 4 December 2023 | Symposium on Branded Content and Children: Policymaking in the UK, Spain and European Union | 2pm - 3.45pm (UTC + 0:00) | Microsoft Teams

Branded content impacts children and young people in multiple ways, from in-game advertising to influencer marketing. The need to make clear what is advertising and to manage the marketing served to children is ever more important and ever more challenging as the range of platforms and providers multiply. This symposium will discuss and evaluate what is happening in policymaking and regulation affecting children at national levels in the UK and Spain and at EU level.

The event is part of the Branded Content Governance Project, a 3-year (ESRC-AHRC) research project led by UAL, University of Stirling and Complutense University of Madrid. The symposium will include contributions from a panel of experts including: Julian Coles (Digital Media Policy Consultant), Professor Patricia Núñez Gómez (Complutense University of Madrid), Professor Esther Martinez Pastor (Rey Juan Carlos University, Madrid), and Dr. Eva van Reijmersdal (University of Amsterdam) who will be a respondent. Chair: Jonathan Hardy, BCG Project (University of the Arts London).
