Peter Osborne is an Associate Lecturer for MA Media, Communications and Critical Practice and BA (Hons) Contemporary Media Cultures at London College of Communication.
Prior to joining the Communications and Media programme, Peter taught for many years on the BA (Hons) Photography course at LCC.
His subject areas are: Cultural Theory, Cultural Studies, Latin American Media and Culture, Photography History and Photography Theory, Visual Culture, Digital Cultures, Tourism Studies; Studies in the representation of Travel, Mobility, Migration, Exile, theory and history of writing and textual practice.
Peter has published essays on photography above all in relation to art; space, identity and landscape; Latin America, travel and mobility. His book Travelling Light – photography, travel and visual culture was published by Manchester University Press in 2000.
Peter is currently working on a book studying the nature of photographic practice in the contemporary cultural condition to be titled, Commemorating the Present. The book is due for submission to Routledge in early 2016.
