Biography

Dr Yiğit Soncul is Senior Lecturer in Communications and Media at London College of Communication, teaching across BA (Hons) Advertising, MA Advertising and MA Media, Communications and Critical Practice courses.

Yiğit’s research interests span media theory; visual and material culture; media and the environment; emergent technologies and aesthetics; embodiment and the representations of the body and the face; intersections of aural, visual and haptic sensation in digital cultures; and promotional media. He is open to PhD proposals in any of these areas.

Before joining UAL, he taught at Universities of Southampton, Sydney, Winchester and Istanbul Bilgi University. Yiğit is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is interested in research-based and collaborative modes of teaching and learning.

Yiğit is co-editor of parallax (26:1) 'Networked Liminality' (2020) and Media Theory (6:2) 'Pharmacologies of Media' (2022) special issues. He is currently co-editing a cluster on 'Influencer Aesthetics' for Post45 Contemporaries and two books, one on Digital Exhaustion (Intellect) and a Handbook of Digital Cultures (De Gruyter).
