Dr Barbara Plotz
Dr Barbara Plotz is an associate lecturer on BA (Hons) Contemporary Media Cultures at London College of Communication, teaching ‘Contemporary Cinema Cultures: Theories and Practices’ and ‘Television and Its Futures’.
Barbara is a film scholar, having completed her PhD at King’s College London. Her research investigates the cultural politics of contemporary popular cinema. Barbara's interests lie within the intersection of film and cultural studies, with a focus on representation, gender, the body, and genre - specifically horror cinema.
Barbara also teaches at the department of film studies at King’s College London. Taught subjects include Film and Style, Film History, Classical Film Theory, Critical Theory and Film, Contemporary European Cinema, Hollywood Cinema, American Independent Cinema.
She has a monograph forthcoming with Bloomsbury Publishing entitled Fat on Film: Gender, Race and Body Size in Contemporary Hollywood Cinema.
