Samsung KX

A mural with a light bulb at the centre and streams made of letter emanating from it
Mural designed by Hannah Balogun | London College of Communication | UAL

In Summer 2019, Samsung launched Samsung KX, its experience space on the top floor of Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross. Designed to showcase the full range of Samsung’s top products, the space is much more than a shop, and Samsung turned to the London College of Communication to help bring the space to life.

BA (Hons) Graphic and Media Design and BA (Hons) Illustration and Visual Media students worked on the brief and pitched ideas and concepts for murals that would encourage visitors to interact with the space, click photos and post on social media. The murals were to be designed in such a way that the visitor could complete it by standing in front of it.

Jessica Mumby-Price and Hannah Balogun had their proposals selected and activated in the Samsung KX space. Jessica’s creation allowed visitors to swing in outer space, whilst Hannah’s mural showed ideas flowing out of the brain of the person who stood in front of it.
