Course description

Central Saint Martins is renowned for its innovative and open-minded approach to the creative process. This short intensive course explores some unconventional, versatile and inventive approaches to patternmaking and shape creation. It will show you snapshots of various techniques used to create patterns.

Tutor-led demonstrations will provide the starting point from which to practice and develop your skills and aesthetic sensibilities.

Entry requirements

  • The ability to use a sewing machine is essential if you are to benefit from this course.
  • Some knowledge of patternmaking would also be useful to follow this programme.
  • It is also essential that you come to this course with an open mind, be willing to experiment and take risks.

Level: Part 1 is suitable for students with a basic understanding of pattern cutting.

Students who successfully complete this course may want to consider taking Experimental and Explorative Approaches Part 2.
